The sensational shoot by Modric in Match 23 of the FIFA World Cup 2018 which had Argentina worrying about an earlier than anticipated exit, has been the talk of the tournament and now we’re showing you just how to do it!

Dubbed as a ‘moment of magic’ by the BBC and a ‘classy’ curl by Sky Sports, Luka Modric’s 80th minute screamer against Argentina in the group stages of the FIFA World Cup 2018 put Croatia two goals ahead of the 5th best team in the world and on the radar of every football fan in all corners of the globe.

Receiving the ball from Marcelo Brozovic 20 yards from the goal, Croatia’s captain only took two touches to curl the ball around Nicolás Tagliafico and nestle it in at the right post, drifting straight past Willy Caballero.

With the goal sure to go-down as a stand-out moment from this year’s tournament, we’ve teamed up with Tom Joyce of Built Not Born to recreate the stunning strike and show how with just a little bit of equipment and a lot of training, you can ‘Shoot Like Modric’ too!

Showing elements of speed and quality passing from all players, not to mention Modric’s showcase of skill with his fantastic finish, Tom couldn’t wait to get out on the pitch and emulate this magnificent masterpiece.

Using the FORZA Speed & Agility Training Ladder to mimic Brozovic’s speed as he sprints down the wing, Tom along with few friends recreate the moment the ball is played out wide, before being passed back and curled around Tagliafico, or in this case our 6ft FORZA Football Free Kick Mannequin.

‘Built Not Born’

Using the FORZA Speed & Agility Training Ladder can not only improve a player’s overall speed but it can also help with ankle stability, motor control and coordination, whilst the incorporation of the FORZA Football Free Kick Mannequin can enhance both accuracy and ball manipulation.

These type of skills, from the speed and passing to the sharp turns and great strike, can always be practiced… as Tom says: ‘built not born – you can always train a skill!’. The training drills can be adapted for young academy players too or kids having a kickabout in the back garden… all you need to do is downscale the goal size (we recommend one of our FORZA PVC Locking Goals) and get yourself one of our FORZA Speed & Agility Training Ladders designed for juniors.

‘Who Are Ya?!’
