Net World Sports’ Rugby Tackle Bags Make TV Debut On BT Sport

Tags :

Category : Blog

Ahead of the 2019 Six Nations Championship kicking off later this week, our Low-Height Rugby Tackle Bags made an appearance BT Sports’ Rugby Tonight live show alongside Danny Cipriani and Brian O’Driscoll…

Eagle eyed fans watching Rugby Tonight on BT Sport would’ve noticed a few new
additions to the studio this week in the form of six Net World Sports’ Low-Height
Rugby Tackle Bags as well as six of our FORZA
Adjustable Extendable Telescopic Rugby Kicking Tees.

Used by England’s Danny Cipriani and ex-Ireland captain Brian O’Driscoll in the show’s passing accuracy challenge, the professional players competed against one another to see who could knock the most balls of the kicking tees which were strategically placed on top of the tackle bags… It wasn’t that easy though, as the balls decreased in size as they went along the line.

Causing quite a scene with rugby balls flying everywhere, the challenge proved popular with the professionals and audience in the studio alike, as the vibrant Net World Sports’ blue rugby tackle bags took centre stage. Cipriani was crowned the passing master, knocking three out of a possible six off, whilst O’Driscoll managed an admirable two.

Used in the conventional way,
the Low-Height
Rugby Tackle Bags make the perfect pairing to training sessions and
help replicate real-life match situations, making you get low and hone in on
the target. Featuring rip-proof, weather resistant PVC covers, the pro model
tackle bag comes in four different sizes of varying weight:

Mini (8kg): 66cm (26″) High x 33cm (13″) Diameter
Junior (13kg): 76cm (30″) High x 38cm (15″) Diameter
Youth (17kg): 76cm (30″) High x 46cm (18″) Diameter
Senior (27kg): 76cm (30″) High x 46cm (18″) Diameter

With the launch of our brand-new FORZA Rugby Balls,
the appearance on BT Sport’s Rugby Tonight could not have come at a better
time! From the FORZA
Helix Classic Training Rugby Ball and FORZA
Eclipse Senior Training Rugby Ball to the FORZA
Dominate International Match Rugby Ball, Net World Sports is making
waves in the rugby market.

Why We Introduced: FORZA American Football Quarterback Target Net and Kicking Net

Tags :

Category : Blog

All eyes will be fixed on TV screens come Sunday evening as the Los Angeles Rams take on the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LIII, so what better time to catch up with Adam and Tom from our Product team to discover why we introduced our own American Football range?!…

As leading sports equipment retailers within the industry, we want to be able to cater for fans of every game. From football and rugby to cricket, golf and everything in between, American Football is just one of the latest ranges to ‘hit the shelves’ of Net World Sports. As the NFL becomes increasingly popular across the globe with more than 103 million viewers expected to watch the Rams take on the Patriots at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta for Super Bowl LIII, we thought it was about time we sat down with our product team to discover everything there is to know about our FORZA American Football Quarterback Target Net and FORZA American Football Kicking Net.

Hi Guys, so let’s start at the beginning, why did we decide to introduce the FORZA American Football Quarterback Target Net and FORZA American Football Kicking Net?

Adam: Before last year, we didn’t
really have an American Football product range as such. We have lots of NFL
fans in the office, myself included, so it occurred to us that we really needed
to start tapping into this market.

Tom: Exactly, NFL is becoming more and more popular outside of America and we knew we could give football fans products they’d want. We wanted to stay true to our ethos as a business, providing niche products to the mass market. Set up your goal and Football Goal Target Sheet.

So, what was the thought process behind the
FORZA American Football Quarterback Target Net and the FORZA American Football
Kicking Net in particular?

Tom: As with all our current products,
we wanted to make high quality nets that were easily accessible for American
Football fans in all corners of the globe.

Adam: The Quarterbacks in games are those that get the most applause when they’re throwing winning touchdown passes, but the kickers are just as important too and have just as hard a job. With this in mind, we knew we wanted to focus our attention on products to help fine tune throwing accuracy and prepare the perfect field goal.

And were these kind of products missing
from the market there?

Tom: The UK market definitely! You
virtually couldn’t get them this side of the Atlantic, all the suppliers are US
based.

Adam: We wanted to deliver them to
wider markets at a competitive price and I think we’ve definitely achieved
that.

How long did the research and development of the products take? Were there any challenges faced along the way?…

Tom: The kicking net was fairly
straight forward as far as the product develop process goes. We just needed to
ensure the net at the back of the frame had enough give in it so the balls
weren’t rebounding off it.

Adam: The quarterback net was a little more complicated though. We ended up with three rounds of samples as we wanted to make slight changes to ensure it was durable and could absorb the ball. I’d say overall it took about four months from ideation through to completion to get both products at a stage we were happy with.

How’ve they gone down with our customers so
far then?

Adam: Really well! The demand well and
truly exceeded our initial expectations, but that can only be a good thing.

Tom: From the positive reaction we’ve
received, we know there’s room for a lot more growth and are currently looking
to expand the range with even more American Football products so what this
space!Set up your goal and Football Goal Target Sheet.

Q&A: Tom Joyce, Sports Performance Coach

Tags :

Category : Blog

As one of our amazing Brand Ambassadors, we’ve worked with Tom Joyce on lots of Net World Sports and FORZA campaigns, so when we came up with the concept of #TrainForYourGame we knew we had to get him involved and wanted to find out more about his fitness journey…

Research conducted by Strava, the social networking and tracking app for runners and cyclists, delved deep into the data and discovered that 12th January is the date most people begin giving up on their New Year’s resolutions. If yours was to get fitter, healthier and train for your game, but you’ve started to lack motivation, or you’ve given up altogether, we’re here to get you back on track with the help of Tom Joyce!

Tom Joyce, founder of TJ Fitness & Wellbeing, has teamed up with us once again to bring you Strength Training Guides as part of our #TrainForYourGame campaign and we thought what better way to get everyone motivated than hear about his fitness journey and get his top tips!

NWS: Hi Tom! First of all, thanks a bunch for working with us on yet another campaign, we love all the content you give us. So, question number one… how did you get into sports performance coaching?

TJ: I played semi-professional football as a kid and have always been really sporty, so once I finished school I began my qualifications to become a personal trainer. I qualified when I was about 18 and worked in gyms until I was 22, before deciding to go it alone and become self-employed. As a self-employed personal trainer, I decided I wanted to specialise in working with amateur and professional athletes who were serious about getting better at their game (no pun intended on this one)!

I was introduced to a professional boxer in Reading about five years ago and started training him to improve his boxing performance, strength and conditioning. I began studying to become a boxing trainer / cornerman and then progressed my studies further into UKSCA (the UK’s professional body for strength and conditioning). From there, my portfolio of amateur and professional athletes grew and grew. I now train a variety of athletes, primarily boxers and footballers as well as hockey players, horse riders, swimmers and runners.

I have a passion for coaching athletes and absolutely thrive off seeing someone improve themselves and their game.

NWS: Such a brave move to make going self-employed, but it has obviously payed dividends! How did Studio 9 Fitness come about then? Studio 9 Fitness is Tom’s training studio in Berkshire.

TJ: When I started out as a self-employed personal trainer, I was renting space off some friends who had just opened their own private gym close to my home. I knew that if I ever wanted to grow into the coach I believed I could be, I needed my own facility to be able to deliver the highest standard of sport specific training. Studio 9 Fitness is home to some of the highest quality sports performance and strength equipment in the industry. We have dedicated half of the gym specifically to functional and sport specific training with a large open astroturf area, whilst the other half is designed for strength training.

NWS: What does a typical day look like for you then? We imagine it’s pretty busy!

TJ: I wake up at 5.30am in the week, as well as on Saturdays with my first client session starting at 6am. I then work with clients up until midday before having three or four hours off in the afternoon where I spend my time replying to enquiries, delivering consultations, writing programmes and coaching clients. Being a trainer is so much more than just the hour spent in the gym and requires a lot of communication to keep your clients motivated outside of the gym as well!

I usually spend at least 30-45 minutes a day talking to my business partner, whether that’s over the phone or face-to-face, about the gym and our future plans. We’re always thinking about our next step and where we can take our ideas. My evening clients usually start around 4pm and I’ll then be coaching sessions until 9pm. With the gym being so close to home, I usually get in at around 9.15pm and spend an hour or so with my fiancée before we go to bed and start all over again the following day. I’m lucky enough to have a lot of support from my fiancée who prepares all my meals during the week and also helps with the admin side of the gym.

I work seven days a week, but Sundays usually don’t start until 9am and finish around midday so I have the afternoon to relax and recharge before the week starts again.

NWS: Oh wow! How do often do you manage to train yourself then and how do you stay motivated to workout?

TJ: I train four times a week, every week. My training is focussed on power and strength as I’ve always been naturally lean but struggle to gain weight. My goal is to be physically athletic as I believe it enhances my abilities as a coach to be able to demonstrate and perform the exercises that I ask of my clients.

I stay motivated and inspired by those who I surround myself with. I used to get really demotivated when training for hypertrophy because I struggled to gain weight and found that the physical results that I was seeing were not reflective of the effort I was putting in. Since changing my focus, I now see regular improvements in my power and strength, being able to perform and practice the exercises I deliver to my clients also helps to improve my coaching abilities. I am motivated by the athletes that I train who are so driven by their desire to achieve! I am also motivated by the other coaches in my gym who are strong, knowledgeable and passionate about training. It is difficult not to be motivated to train when you are surrounded by motivated people!

NWS: And what are your top tips for getting the most of training?

TJ: 1. Follow a programme that is based on progressive overload. 2. Be consistent and dedicated. 3. Find a form of training that you enjoy! Training shouldn’t be a chore, it should be fun and invigorating! Whether it’s strength training or Zumba, if you enjoy doing it, you are more likely to see results from it.

NWS: What does the future look like for you? Do you have any exciting things coming up?

TJ: The future is definitely exciting! Myself and my business partner have loads of ideas for Studio 9 Fitness and how we can expand our concept. Personally, I would like to continue building my portfolio of athletes and branch out in the professional sector a little more whilst continually improving my own coaching abilities to become the best sports performance coach I can possibly be!

It’s all go then! Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to work with us on this campaign and speak to us Tom, we really appreciate it!

If you’d like to find out more about Tom, you can follow him on Instagram here. Don’t forget to check out the great Strength training guides he has created for us either. You can find beginner, intermediate and advanced workout guides here.

How To: Chip A Golf Ball

Tags :

Category : Blog

Looking to improve your golf short game? With 15% off our FORB Golf Balls, we’re showing you how to chip a ball pitch perfect…

The chip shot you play will often be dependent on a number of factors. How much green you have to work with, how your ball is lying, what hazards lie between you and the pin, as well as any slopes on the green are all things you’ll want to consider before choosing the type of shot you want to play. Thinking about ratios and where you want to land your golf ball will help you pick the right club for chipping, whether it’s an 8 iron, a pitching wedge or a lob wedge. However, all of this becomes irrelevant if you’ve not got the right technique and are unable to make good contact with the golf ball.

By improving your contact with chipping, your distance control will also improve, along with your accuracy. It all goes hand in hand, so we’re giving you the low down on how to chip shots like a pro for every eventuality!

HIGH CHIP SHOTS:

First things first, you’ll need to select a lofted club. You need to keep your body stance neutral for high chip shots, with the ball in the middle of your stance and the handle sitting on the sole of the club, not forward or behind the ball. Coming through the shot, you want your left elbow to come back and your right hand to feel like you’re completing an underarm throw. This will allow the club to work under the ball and it will travel higher through the air. High chip shots are ideal when you need to get your ball to stop quickly.

LOW CHIP SHOTS:

Low chip shots will typically run on a lot more than high chip shots after landing. To play this shot you’ll need a less lofted club. Again, you need to keep your body stance neutral when it comes to the low shot, but handle the club slightly forward to the ball. In shot, you need to do the opposite of the high chip shot – make sure your left arm is kept long and the back of your left wrist flat. This will help you keep your clubhead low to the ground and the ball travel nicely.

If you’re looking to practice these shots, why not pair them up with our FORB F-3 Golf Balls for ultra-precision? Reducing the spin off, they’re designed for distance, direction and durability.

You can save 15% off our FORB Golf Balls when you spend £100 or more on equipment using the code UKSAVE5. This offer is valid until 11.59pm on 27th January 2019. For more deals, be sure to click on your country below where we will have deals running until the end of the month… bye bye January blues!

What Tennis Net is Best For My Court?

Tags :

Category : Blog

With the Australian Open currently taking place Down Under and the title of 2019’s Grand Slam winner up for grabs, all eyes are firmly focused on Melbourne.
But, with tennis reaching fever pitch, do you know which tennis net is best when it comes to your court?

Whether you’re lucky enough to have your very own tennis court at home, in charge of tennis club maintenance or even a PE school teacher coaching the next crop of tennis superstars, the common factors in choosing a tennis net are quality, and of course, price. Vermont by Net World Sports offers an impeccable range of tennis nets that tick all the boxes and so much more.

For Home Courts
For any tennis aficionado with their own personal tennis court or for coach and tutors who specialise in one-on-one training sessions you can’t go wrong with the Vermont 2.5mm Singles Tennis Net (33ft). Designed to official singles net regulations, it’s suited to home courts where you can challenge friends and neighbours or just send some quick tennis sessions with a personal trainer.

The Vermont 2.5mm Singles Tennis Net is also great to introduce beginners to the sport – there’s nothing quite like the real thing, so why not let players get to grips with an original, authentic tennis net?

For Sports Centres, Schools & Colleges
If you’re after a quality product at a low-cost price, look no further than the Vermont 2mm Tennis Net (42ft). As the smallest and lightest of the Vermont tennis net range, the undeniable versality of the Vermont 2mm Tennis Net proves that size doesn’t matter. Best enjoyed and appreciated in schools, colleges and sports centres alike, the Vermont 2mm Tennis Net boasts a Wimbledon-esque design, combining beauty with a resilience that will see it adorn tennis courts through years of frequent matches.

Due to the lightweight material, the 2mm is perfect game, set and matched to freestanding tennis posts, where a venue may need to change court surfaces or games in a hurry.

For Tennis Clubs, Tennis Centres & Official LTA Venues
Without question, the Vermont DT Championship Tennis Net (3.5mm) is the pièce de résistance in the Vermont range. Designed by champions, for champions, the twine is almost completely indestructible; capable of withstanding barrages of tennis ball impacts and lasting damage from UV rays.

Unlike most tennis nets, the Vermont Double Top Championship Tennis Net offers a choice of headbands, from the Standard to the Wimbledon Grade which is intricately treated and upgraded for maximum ‘Ultra-White’ visibility and superior durability.

Such as this net’s quality, it has graced two of the big four Grand Slam tournament venues, including Roland Garros and Melbourne Park, where the likes of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic have served aces on both the hard and clay courts.

For Official ATP & LTA Venues
For those looking to give their tennis court a complete makeover, the Vermont DT Singles Tennis Net (3.5mm) is the grand slam champion of the Vermont tennis net range. It’s everything a professional tennis court could wish for; super-strong twine, a brilliant-white headband finish and overlocked edged side & bottom banding for the touch of professionalism that so many courts yearn for.

Perfect for replicating Wimbledon in your own venue, the Vermont DT Singles Tennis Net (3.5mm) is the standard of net that the elite superstars will be firing over throughout the big four.

Tennis Net Essentials
When you’ve chosen the tennis net for you, it’s always wise to add a few extra products to your basket that are crucial to help maintain it and get it up to official ITF (International Tennis Federation) standards.

Tennis Net Singles Sticks –  Convert standard 42ft doubles tennis nets for regulatory singles matches without having to change nets altogether. Made to measure exactly 3.5ft high in accordance with official ITF court specifications, the Tennis Nets Singles Sticks are an essential time saver for professional tennis establishments.

Tennis Net Measuring Stick – Ensure your tennis nets stand at the official regulation height of 3ft with the Tennis Net Height Gauge.  The simplest method of measuring a tennis net’s height you could ever ask for!

Tennis Net Centre Strap – When it comes to adjusting & securing a tennis net’s height, the Tennis Net Centre Strap is compatible with any standard regulation tennis net. Both stylish and practical, the strap’s clip latches onto most base weights, anchors, and pegs, and can endure severe weather conditions. A must-have item for any professional tennis venue’s nets.

Q&A: Debi Lofstrand, Personal Trainer

Tags :

Category : Blog

With Personal Trainer, Debi Lofstrand, partnering with us on the launch of our #TrainForYourGame campaign, we just had to find out more about the inspirational lady behind the debijaneFIT brand…

The latest Net World Sports campaign launched just last week with the aim of challenging you to train for your game, no matter what the sport. We don’t want any excuses and definitely no mediocre attempts, so what better way to get you motivated than team up with some of the best Sports Performance Coaches and Personal Trainers around to provide you with workouts to take your game to the next level?

Debi Lofstrand, founder of debijaneFIT, is one of these great Personal Trainers and we caught up with her to find out exactly how she got into fitness…

NWS: Hi Debi, thanks so much for taking the time out to chat to us! I guess we should we start from the beginning really, so, how did you first get into personal training?

DL: I always loved working out as teenager in South Africa. I trained through all of my pregnancies and really enjoyed the endorphin rush it gave me, so when we moved to Texas nine years ago as a family, one of my friends offered me a job as a group fitness instructor. From that point on wards I decided to carry on my studies and become a Personal Trainer.

NWS: How often do you workout then and what is your favourite type of training?

DL: I try and workout around six days a week. My favourite training has to be HIIT, which works well with the #TrainForYourGame campaign! I like to do my HIIT training with a treadmill and weights to ensure I’m really getting an all-round workout.

NWS: Wow, six days a week! What does a typical day tend to look like for you then?

DL: A typical day for me starts by coaching a group fitness class. Then it’s home for breakfast and to get my son off to school, before I begin my personal training sessions with clients. I tend to get a workout in for myself late morning, followed by lunch and another client for personal training. By mid-afternoon I head home in time for my son to return from school and continue with admin work. I then coach another group fitness class in the early evening and sometimes finish with another client before returning home to prep for the next day.

NWS: The word superwoman springs to mind! How do you stay motivated to workout, especially when you have so much to do?

DL: I stay motivated to train by having a goal that gets me to every workout I have planned in order to achieve that goal. I mark these workouts in my planner and am flexible to fit them in super early if I know my day is going to get really crazy. I always stay focussed on my goal so when I’m tired and my motivation may be somewhat lacking, I remember the awesome feeling you get when you smash it!

NWS: You document a lot of your training on Instagram. How did the account first come about? 25,000 followers is no mean feat!

DL: I decided I wanted to reach more people, inspiring them to live their best life and create a lifestyle they could be proud of… what better way of doing this than through Instagram?! I continued to post and received some social media training which has led to the next steps of creating a website for online training and workouts.

NWS: What does the future look like for you fitness wise then?

DL: Fitness wise my future looks great, I’ve set new goals for 2019 that will definitely keep me motivated. So far I’m looking to complete an Ironman, my regular 100m bike challenge in the Texas summer heat called Hotter’N Hell Hundred and then a marathon in the fall.

NWS: It’s all go for you this year! What are your top tips you’d give to people looking to get the most out of training?

DL: Good music is a must! Also, always have a plan! Don’t just wander into the gym and then see where the action is. Get a workout from a trainer or hire one if you feel that will help you get started in the right direction. You could even join a few group fitness classes to get you started!

NWS: Last but not least, we ask everyone we work with this question… what is your favourite piece of training equipment from Net World Sports?

DL: It has to be the Battle Rope, I will be recommending it to everyone!

That’s what we like to hear Debi!

If you’d like to find out more about Debi, you can follow her on Instagram here. Don’t forget to check out the great HIIT workout guides she has created for us either. You can find beginner, intermediate and advanced training guides here.
